TAKE A FRESH LOOK AT FLOORINGS POST-BAN, SAYS GRADUS
With the smoking ban now in force, floorcoverings specialist Gradus is encouraging hoteliers, restaurateurs and landlords to take a fresh look at their premises’ flooring and breathe new life into interiors with cleanable new carpets that are food and family friendly.
The absence of tobacco smoke is expected to unmask a whole host of unpleasant aromas embedded within flooring fibres, presenting businesses with an ideal opportunity to freshen up floorcoverings to suit a new wave of clientele. And with flammability now less of a concern, licensees can consider a range of new flooring options, offering aesthetic, maintenance and cleaning benefits.
Marketing Manager for Gradus Floorcoverings Pamela Cairns explains: “Food and families are set to become more commonplace as alternative revenue generators for pubs, bars and clubs that were previously frequented by smokers.
“This changing customer base means that cleanability becomes more important, whilst flammability is a less significant consideration now that cigarettes and ash are removed from the equation. As a result, licensees are better placed to choose polypropylene carpets such as Gradus’ Genus or Volnay ranges, which are durable and easy to clean, making them ideal for heavy traffic environments where there is a high risk of spillages. Opting for patterned designs such as those in our Genus range is also an effective choice for concealing any spillages in busy environments where they can’t always be cleaned up immediately.”
Pamela adds: “Licensees should also consider fitting a barrier matting system as part of any new flooring scheme to help protect the main floorcovering and maximise its lifespan. Barrier matting is an effective way of trapping dirt and moisture when people first enter a building and is available in a whole range of colours and materials to complement the main flooring area. Specifying a polypropylene carpet together with a barrier matting system will deliver a high-performing flooring solution that can freshen up hospitality interiors and reduce cleaning and maintenance requirements in the longer-term.”
Gradus offers an extensive range of polypropylene carpets, ideal for hospitality environments.
Available as broadloom, impervious or carpet tiles, the Genus range of patterned carpets can be mixed and matched, according to the likely usage levels and risk of spillage in different areas. Traditionally used in demanding healthcare applications, polypropylene yarns retain their appearance even after the most stringent cleaning processes.
The complementary Volnay range of plain carpets is available in a choice of 12 colours that can be used in conjunction with the Genus designs to define different areas and create original flooring solutions.
