In the 20 years since Gradus first began manufacturing its popular Genus carpet range, over three million square metres have been installed in a range of contract interiors, where durability, aesthetics and cleanability are essential.

Ideal for commercial, healthcare, education and leisure applications, Genus is manufactured with Marquesa solution dyed non-absorbent yarn, which makes it highly resistant to staining and fading. Plus, the carpet offers underfoot comfort and proves to cushion footsteps, which reduces foot and leg fatigue in busy environments.

Genus also offers excellent acoustic qualities, which can help to reduce noise levels in busy office environments, healthcare buildings and schools. In addition, Genus has been awarded the highest Green Guide A+ rating under the BRE’s certified environmental profile scheme, in recognition of its sustainability credentials.

To support the Genus range, Gradus has introduced a suite of new materials to showcase the carpet’s superior cleanability and ease of maintenance. A new cleaning demonstration video is available to view online at www.gradusworld.com, which shows Genus carpet being subjected to a variety of spillages and stains which are all successfully removed.

To help customers implement an effective carpet cleaning programme, a new stain removal guide is also available, which recommends appropriate cleaning agents for a range of common stains, including tea, paint, red wine, ketchup, cosmetics and toiletries.

Robert Marks, Head of Projects at Earls Court in London where Genus has been installed in the main reception area, said: “We’re really pleased with Genus in our new reception area. Not only is it in keeping with the venue’s modern style, it is also hardwearing enough to cope with the massive influx of visitors we receive each day.” This is backed by Janet Judge, Manager of Macclesfield Library where Genus has been installed twice, once in 1994 and again in 2009 due to its durability and proven performance.

Karen Burman, Floorcoverings Product Manager for Gradus, added: “Contract carpets are subjected to a wide range of spillages which can permanently stain, resulting in the premature replacement of the floorcovering. However, Genus carpet is resistant to such spillages, as dirt and liquids remain on the surface of the carpet yarn and the spillage can be cleaned with ease.

“This outstanding cleanability provides specifiers and contractors with peace of mind that Genus carpet will maintain its appearance for many years, providing a hardwearing long-term floorcovering solution.”

Available in tile, broadloom and impervious formats, Genus is supported by a 15 year wear warranty and five year performance warranty for staining and fading.
