GRADUS CARPETS THE NORTH EAST
Square Mile, a recently launched product from Gradus, has proved a success, with three universities specifying the product for both refurbishments and new build projects.
Sunderland, Durham and Newcastle Universities all specified the Square Mile carpet because of the stylish and upmarket appearance of the product, at the same time as offering a high quality cost efficient solution.
Building on an established relationship with Gradus, Sunderland University was the first in the country to specify the stylish Square Mile carpet tile to cover 3,000m2 of its new Media Centre on St Peter´s Campus.
The contemporary ship bow design of the new building required a product to reflect the modernity of the space. Square Mile, developed to offer a high quality commercial feel and available in a range of 20 contemporary colours, was chosen in Queensway ? Sea Green ? to both complement the overall colour scheme and enhance the natural aesthetics of the design.
Square Mile, part of Gradus´ Premium Carpet Collection, combines style with functionality. Its excellent aesthetic qualities helped to create an impactful yet productive environment, whilst at the same time provided a carpet, which is capable of withstanding continual foot traffic at the busy Media Centre.
The successful implementation of Square Mile at the Media Centre, Sunderland has led to its specification in a further two refurbishment projects at Sunderland University, as well as influencing the decision making process at Newcastle University.
In the case of Durham Business School, 200m2 of Gradus Square Mile carpet was specified for the refurbishment of the business school. The stylish appearance of Square Mile fitted in perfectly with the overall image of the building, resulting in the product being supplied in broadloom.
The carpet, installed in public and teaching areas, was selected in Ladbroke ? a rich blue shade - which complemented the overall colour scheme, chosen to offer a more corporate feel to reflect the business and mature students that use the building. In addition Gradus, offered Durham an excellent after care service, which ensures the client is kept informed 0on up to date cleaning, maintenance and service issues.
Newcastle University specified 550m2 of Square Mile in the major refurbishment of the Cassie Building, which saw old workshops and laboratories converted into PHD research facilities and staff areas. Square Mile, supplied in Highgate ? classic blue - met the requirements of a cost effective product that could still provide excellent aesthetic qualities combined with hard wearing properties.
