Gradus Updates CPD Seminars in line with Latest Standards
Contract interiors specialist Gradus has updated its range of CPD seminars to help architects specify stair edgings, barrier matting and wall protection in line with the latest British Standards for visual contrast and inclusive design.
RIBA approved, the new seminars cover the recommendations in BS8493 for the measurement of light reflectance values (LRVs) and the subsequent amendments to BS8300, which provided updated guidance on how buildings can meet the needs of disabled people.
Published in November 2008, BS8493 introduced a standardised method of measurement for LRVs to make it easier for architects to achieve the required 30 points difference in LRVs between adjacent surfaces to provide sufficient visual contrast.
BS8300:2009, which supersedes BS8300:2001, included new recommendations for the slip-resistance, profile dimensions and colour contrast of stair edgings, to aid accessible building design.
Lynette Bowden, Group Marketing Manager for Gradus, comments: “As a reputable provider of CPD seminars and specialists in inclusive building design, we regularly update our seminars to provide specifiers with the most up to date and relevant information. Our new seminars will aid the specification process and ensure architects are aware of the latest standards.”
