Gradus Steps Up XT Range with New Hardnose Profiles

Contract interiors specialist Gradus has extended its innovative XT range of stair edgings with the introduction of new PVC-u Hardnose profiles, providing specifiers and contractors with greater choice and flexibility in delivering stair safety.

Offering superior protection against the risk of slips, trips and falls on stairs, the XT Hardnose range consists of ten new profiles, with a further four due to be launched later in 2009.

Suitable for use with resilient and heavy resilient flooring as well as carpet, the profiles combine a hardwearing PVC-u channel with a choice of slip-resistant inserts, including the innovative Xtra-grip and Xtra-grip Plus, both of which incorporate mineral aggregate to increase surface friction and improve slip-resistance.

In line with the latest guidelines from BS8300:2009 and BRE recommendations for improving stair safety, the inserts extend around the leading edge of the step to ensure optimum foot contact with the slip-resistant material.

Channels and inserts are available in a choice of 11 colours and for added benefit, the insert and channel colour can be matched to provide a single solid band of colour that defines the step edge, in line with BS8300:2009 and Approved Document M (ADM) of The Building Regulations 2000.

Suitable for use on the most popular step shapes including square, rake back and bullnose, the XT Hardnose range incorporates profiles with 55mm treads and both 55mm and 40mm risers to meet with ADM and BS8300 guidance. Plus, double channel profiles are available for areas subject to frequent heavy traffic, as well as complementary PVC-u side trims.
