Gradus donates SureProtect Artworx to Macclesfield District General Hospital for a new mural.
Gradus LTD, a leading provider of wall protection and accessories solutions, recently demonstrated its commitment to community support by donating its innovative SureProtect Artworx bespoke wall cladding solution to Macclesfield District General Hospital (MDGH). This donation was specifically aimed at enhancing the children’s waiting area in the Emergency Department (ED).
Chris Jackson, Wall Protection Sales Manager for Gradus reached out to East Cheshire NHS Trust, looking for an opportunity for Gradus to collaborate on a project that would benefit the local community. On a walk around of MDGH with a representative from the Trust, the idea of creating a mural in the children’s ED waiting area was initiated. The Trust then collated feedback on this idea from ED clinical teams' initial design themes for the mural. Working alongside MDGH stakeholders, Gilling Dod Architects was commissioned to create a large-scale digital artwork, taking inspiration from the local landscape and wildlife in the Peak District.
The donated SureProtect Artworx was used to create a stunning mural on a 5.5-meter by 2.4-meter wall, inclusive with printed trims to create a seamless finish. The mural features a modern geometric nature-inspired theme, incorporating stylized representations of trees, hills, and animals in a range of green, brown, and blue tones. This design not only adds aesthetic value but also creates a calming and engaging environment for young patients and their families during their hospital visits.
The new Gradus SureProtect Artworx wall cladding is a fully bespoke solution, allowing for tailored designs that resonate with specific audiences, in healthcare, retail, leisure and even education. The cladding is easy to clean and maintain, making it ideal for healthcare settings where hygiene is crucial. In addition, Gradus has a dedicated contracts team that can ensure SureProtect Artworx is fitted correctly and safely. The Gradus full project management package provides peace of mind to customers and clients throughout the design, estimating and installation process, ensuring that all projects maintain the high standards recognised by Gradus customers over the years.
This MDGH project was completed at no cost to them, as Gradus generously donated all the SureProtect Artworx cladding and their installation team to fit the stunning mural and Gilling Dod designed the bespoke artwork. Being based in Macclesfield, Gradus is deeply invested in the well-being of its local community. This donation reflects Gradus’ dedication to corporate social responsibility and its commitment to supporting public institutions.
Through this donation, Gradus has not only enhanced the environment of the children’s waiting area at Macclesfield District General Hospital but also set a commendable example of community support. The SureProtect Artworx mural stands as a testament to the company’s innovative solutions and its dedication to making a positive impact in its local community.
David Collins-Lafferty, Marketing Manager, Gerflor & Gradus says:
“As a proud and longstanding member of the Macclesfield community, we are committed to social responsibility. We recently approached Macclesfield Hospital to support the Children’s ED project. With the launch of our new bespoke printed wall cladding product, SureProtect Artworx, we quickly realised it would be a perfect addition to create a more welcoming and brighter environment for young patients. We are privileged to have collaborated with the Trust and Gilling Dodd architects to deliver and install this innovative wall cladding.”
Chris Jackson, Wall Protection Sales Manager at Gradus, said:
“We are delighted to donate our new SureProtect Artworx cladding to Macclesfield Hospital. The project has been a great collaborative effort between the MDGH, Gradus and Gilling Dodd Architects. This initiative underscores our stance on supporting our local community. SureProtect Artworx not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the hospital environment but also protects the wall substrate, ensuring ease of maintenance. We believe this contribution will make a significant positive impact on both patients and staff at the hospital.”
