Gradus’ new CPD seminar entitled: ‘The Specification & Design Considerations of Stair Edgings’ has been fully approved by RIBA and focuses on the main factors to consider for an optimum stair edgings specification, including recommendations from the latest legislation and building guidelines in BS8300:2009+A1:2010,  Approved Document M (2004) and Approved Document K (2013).

The CPD also includes updated videos from leading experts in the industry, including spokespeople from the BRE, Health & Safety Laboratory, Natural Colour System and Inclusive Environments Group at the University of Reading. The experts featured share their knowledge and opinions on slip resistance, over step, visual contrast and light reflectance values (LRVs), as well as aesthetically pleasing designs.

As well as covering information on how you can to help provide an inclusive environment in line with the latest building guidelines, the seminar also highlights common misconceptions about potentially dangerous materials that should not be used on stairs.

And with building accessibility being a hot topic at the moment, the CPD clearly demonstrates why stair edgings need to be specified in public and private non-domestic buildings and highlights how the latest legislative requirements relating to access to public buildings affect the specification of stair edgings.

Chloe Taylor, Accessories Product Manager for Gradus, said: “As an established provider of CPD, Gradus regularly updates its seminars in line with changes in legislation and industry practice to give the specifier the most up to date information, in order for them to make an informed decision. Our new stair edging seminar raises product awareness along with the factors that could affect the product’s installation.”

A member of the RIBA CPD Providers Network, Gradus offers an extensive CPD programme covering barrier matting, wall protection and skirtings and transition strips.

‘The Specification & Design Considerations of Stair Edgings’ is available for bookings now and is worth double points as it is part of the Core Curriculum. For more information please contact the Gradus Marketing department on 01625 428922 or visit www.gradusworld.com.
