The Laura Mitchell Health and Wellbeing Centre provides outpatient facilities for the South West Yorkshire Partnership, along with a working base for community mental health teams. The South West Yorkshire Partnership is a specialist NHS Foundation Trust that provides community, mental health and learning disability services to children and young people in the Calderdale region.

Gradus provided a bespoke floor plan design service to the Laura Mitchell Health and Wellbeing Centre.  Using computer generated visuals, Gradus overlaid a design scheme on to floor plans of the centre.  This bespoke service provided the client with a unique design, which is attractive and functional, and within budget.

Tony Tipton, Head of Estates Operations for The Laura Mitchell Health and Wellbeing Centre, said: “Gradus have provided a comprehensive range of high quality carpet tiles, barrier matting and flooring accessories to help us create an attractive and practical interior.

“We specified Gradus due to the company’s proven track record in successfully supplying products for healthcare facilities.”

A range of Gradus products have been selected for the new state-of-the-art building, which recently won a Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) Committed to Construction Award for the Project of the Year under £5m.

On the ground floor Cityscene carpet tiles in Granite (dark grey) and Tin (light grey) have been installed in the offices and Stratus carpet tiles in Storm Surge (dark grey) and Rainfall (light grey) have been installed in the consulting rooms and corridors.  The neutral colours chosen help to create a clean and contemporary environment with a relaxed and welcoming feel for patients and staff.

In addition, Boulevard StripeHD and Boulevard 5000HD secondary barrier matting have been installed in the two entrances.  Constructed from solution dyed nylon yarn, which offers excellent moisture retention properties and a scraper fibre for optimum dirt removal, Boulevard StripeHD and Boulevard 5000HD help maintain the appearance and longevity of the surrounding floorcoverings.

On the first and second floors Gradus’ Streetwise carpet tiles, in Iron (dark grey) and Flint (light grey), have been installed together to create a bespoke floor scheme in the meeting rooms and open plan offices.

On the staircases, Gradus’ ADM2 Aluminium stair edgings, with canvas (beige) interior inserts and TA42 welded corners, have been installed to help minimise the risk of slips, trips and falls in line with the guidelines in BS 8300:2009+A1:2010 and Approved Document M of The Building Regulations 2010.

Karen Burman, Product Manager for Gradus, commented: “Our carpets are an excellent choice for busy healthcare environments as they excel in terms of functionality, aesthetics and ease of maintenance. The carpet ranges installed at the Laura Mitchell clinic work well together to help to differentiate different areas of the building whilst creating a bespoke design scheme.

“Our floor plan design service helps to create bespoke design schemes to suit the exact requirements of a project.”

Gradus supplies a wide range of carpets, barrier matting and flooring accessories to suit a variety of applications. For further information, contact Gradus Technical Support on 01625 428922 or visit www.gradus.com
